Week 5 Circle Golf Update

Circle Christian Golf News

Circle Christian’s Boys Varsity had a busy week competing in the “Elite 8” tournament at Championsgate Golf Club on Wednesday, and then traveled to Hammock Beach to compete in the Titan Invitational.

The format of the Elite 8 was a 2 Man Best Ball, with each school splitting their squad into three 2 Man teams, and then adding the three scores together to get the team total for the event.  Canon Claycomb & Dylan Kotes paced Circle with a 6 under par total that was good enough for a second-place finish.  Circle came into the event ranked 6th in the area, and the team finished 6th in this tournament.  It was a fun day with a different format.

The Titan Tournament gave the team a chance to compete in the 16 team field with teams from across the State, at two great golf courses, with conditions of howling winds coming off the ocean. The team had a 6th place finish in the field of 16, with the low team score of the 6 1A teams that competed. Canon Claycomb tied for the medalist honors with a 2 day total of even-par 144.  Circle’s scores- Canon 71 / 73=144, Cooper Claycomb 77 / 76=153, Cole Chastain 80 / 79=159, Will Larson 82 / 85= 167, Nathan Michaels 87 / 88=175.
