The 2019 Middle School soccer team added another trophy to the shelf with at 3-2 victory of the Wildcats of St. Luke’s Lutheran school. Circle entered the 4-team tournament as the second seed with a record of 7-1. St. Luke’s was seeded 4th having lost games to Circle and the number 1 seed Faith.
In round 1 Circle bested the number 3 seed, ICS, 6-2. ICS put up an outstanding fight but was unable to close an early gap giving Circle the win. St. Luke’s surprised everyone but themselves getting the win over that favored Faith Christian Lions. The final round was scheduled for Tuesday, October 8th, but heavy rains delayed the game until Wednesday.
Going into the match your Centurions were confident having faced these Wildcats early in the season and getting by them 3-1, but the Wildcats were riding high after their upset from 2 days before. The scoring came early as both teams scored their goals in the first half. The second half was a tense defensive struggle but in the end, YOUR CENTURIONS had found the back of the net just one more time to walk away with the 3-2 victory and the 2019 Metro League Soccer Championship. Carson McManus, who was a scoring machine and a wall when we needed it was named tournament MVP. But all of our kids (in all colored jerseys) were incredible to watch.
Several of these Middle School players have already but their names in the hat to try out for Varsity and JV teams (if numbers are there). They will enjoy a week off and then be right back to work for the upcoming Winter Soccer Season.
As always, we invite you to look to the sports calendar to see what team you can come out and support.
Congrats again Middle School Soccer – 2019 Metro League Champs.
