Eleven teams made their way to Bulldog Stadium at Mount Dora Christian Academy this past Saturday to take part in the Mount Dora Christian Invitational track meet. The Circle Christian girl’s team took home the team win, scoring 140 points, while the Ocoee boy’s team’s 156.6 points gave them the team win. The early-season meet was filled with great effort and performances from all participants, but here are three takeaways from the meet.

The Circle Christian Girl’s Team is a Force to be Reckoned With

The Centurions were on a mission on Saturday, and they achieved great things. In the 1600 and the 800-meter runs, they took the first four places, with Archike Parker winning the 800 and Brooke McEwen winning the 1600, respectively. In the 3200-meter run, they placed first, second and third, with Sinkenesh Parker winning the race. They also took home wins in the 300 hurdles, the 4×800 meter relay and the 100 hurdles. It was a complete team effort from the girls, and they will only continue to improve, which is a scary thought for those that they compete against.

Chadrick Richards Could Have a Big Year for Lake Brantley

Richards pulled off the impressive double, winning the 400-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. He just missed running under 50 seconds in the 400-meter dash with his 50.01 time, and his 22.21 200-meter dash time was impressive as well. Look for the junior to continue dropping his times in his respective races and potentially make some noise in Class 4A.

Lake Ellis shines for The First Academy

Lake Ellis ran the fastest time of the day in the 100-meter dash, clocking a time of 11.24. His 6.82 meter performance in the long jump not only earned him the win, but it gave him the best jump in all of Class 1A so far. Lake, who’s committed to Bryant University for football, is apart of a talented squad at TFA that includes standout Alex Shields. Ellis could follow up his successful 2019 season with an even more successful 2020 campaign.
