13th Annual Kegal High School Challenge
September 29, 2019
Circle traveled to Kegal Training Center in Lake Wales, FL for the 13th Annual Kegal High School Challenge. This is a great mid-season check to see how our teams match up against 24 teams from all over the state. The tournament is a one day 2-games of 10-pin and 5-games of Baker for a total pin fall to determine the top 3 boys and girl’s teams.
The Boys team always has a large field of high scoring teams to play against. During the Two 10-pin games Rohde Barber had games of 233 & 224 for a 457 series and Tyler Humphreys added a 233 game and a 428 series. During the Baker Matches Dylan Murray led Circle with 93% and Gavin Murray added 90% in marks made. In Ten pin Circle shot 954, 966 for a 1920, which was 6th place. After the 5 Baker games Circle finished with a 2874 and a 5th place finish. From the tournament Circle found that we can compete against the top teams, but we must work on our spare shooting and move our 10-pin scores higher as we move towards District and State Play-Offs.
The Girls team had to face off against 4 teams that made the top 16 at State Play-off last year. During the 10-pin games Ainsley Chambers had a 229 game and a 428 series, Macy Barber had games of 212, 209 for a 421 series and Grace Bringham had a 227 game and a 405 series. During the Baker Matches Macy Barber led Circle with 100% and Grace Bringham added 90% in marks made. In Ten pin Circle shot 908, 900 for an 1808, which was 2nd place. After the 5 Baker games Circle finished with a 2688 and a 2nd place finish. From the tournament Circle found that they were on par with last year, but still need to up their spare game and Baker scores to match up better for both District and State Play-Off.
