Bowling On A Roll

The boys and girls Bowling Teams continue with outstanding play through the mid-season. This past week saw some outstanding efforts as the teams raised their records to 8-0 for the girls and 7-1 for the boys.

Circle traveled to Lake Wales, Florida to play in the 24 team 2018 Kegel High School Challenge.

This year the Kegel High School Challenge featured FHSAA 2017 Girls State Champion, runner-up, and 5 place finishers along with 8 boys’ teams that made the top 16 in 2017 at State.  In this tournament, each team bowls 2-game of 10-pin and 5-games of Baker format for a total score.

The Boys team had their best outing of the season shooting 2974 and finished in 7th place. In the Ten pin games of 1007 & 1002 Douglas Patek led Circle with a 226, 217 for a total of 443.  Circle got support from Rohde Barber 205, 233 for a 431 series and Tyler Humphreys 235 game 418 series. During the Baker games Circle shoot a 234 and 225 game for a 965 series. Blake Barbee was the only Circle player to make 100% of his spares and strikes in Baker.  

The Girls team played solidly and shot 2881 and finished in 2nd place. In Ten pin games of 969 & 938, Ainsley Chambers had 226, 240 for a 466 series and finished in 2nd place as an Individual. Circle got support from Alexa Chambers 244, 192 for a 436 series and Macy Barber 231 game and 402 series. In Baker games, Circle struggled with spares but had a 213 & 217 for a 974 series.

October 1, 2018

Circle was home at Boardwalk Bowl against West Orange.

The Boys team lost their match 2387-2232.  In the Ten pin matches, Douglas Patek led Circle with a 231, 212 and 443 series.  Circle stayed close with help from Gabriel Perez 228 as Circle shot games of 840 & 959 which were only 17 pins behind the #1 team in District 8.  During the Baker games, Circle struggled with marks and West Orange pulled away 571-433. Circle bright spot in Baker was Blake Barbee and Gabriel Perez both shoot 100% marks made.  Circle learned that they will have to improve on spare shooting if they want to challenge West Orange at District Play-Off.

The Girls team won their match 2348-1812.  In Ten pin Alexa Chambers led Circle with a 225, 213 for a 438 series.  Circle also got help from Grace Bringham 226 and Macy Barber 201. Circle finished with scores of 903 and 943.  In Baker games, Circle struggled with spare shooting but finished with a win 502-429.

October 2, 2018

Circle traveled to Winter Park, FL to play Bishop Moore at Aloma Lanes.

The Boys team won their match with a season-high 2663-2084. In the Ten pin matches, Douglas Patek led Circle with a 246, 232 and 478 series. Circle got help Zack Kimmel 234, Rohde Barber 219, 200 for a 419 series and Blake Barbee 203. Circle boys shot games of 1093 [2nd highest Boys game in school history] & 994. During the Baker games, Circle had help from Blake Barbee, Gabriel Perez and Tyler Humphreys as each shoot 100% marks made and finished with a win 576-504.

The Girls team won their match 2539-1722. In Ten pin Ainsley Chambers led Circle with a 234. Circle also got help from Grace Bringham 227, Alexa Chambers 225 and Macy Barber 200. Circle finished with scores of 914 and 1031. In Baker games, Circle got 100% marks made from Macy, Grace, and Ainsley and finished with a win 594-337.

October 4, 2018

Circle traveled to Winter Garden, FL to play Windermere at Winter Garden Lanes.

The Boys team won their match with a season-high 2827-2433.  In the Ten pin matches, Gabriel Perez led with a 221 & 204. Rohde Barber added a 214, Tyler Humphreys added a 203, Zack Kimmel added a 202 and Blake Barbee had a 201.  Circle boys shot games of 941, 928 & 958. The Boys team is 7-1 for the season.

The Girls team won their match with a season-high 2937-1669.  In Ten pin Grace Bringham led Circle with a 258, 203 and 659 series.  Circle also got help from Ainsley Chambers 257, 214 and 644 series and Alexa Chambers 213.  Circle finished with scores of 995, 962 and 980. The Girls team is 8-0 for the season.

Monday, Oct 8
th Circle will play Boone High at Boardwalk Bowl as an away match with a start time of 3:15. Boone’s Boys and Girls are undefeated.  It is air-conditioned with no rain forecast inside so come out and watch.
